Uses of Wakame

Wakame is often used in seaweed salad and soup filling. Here, we will show you how to make one of most basic Japanese soup, miso soup. Miso soup is one of the recipe that can enjoy wakame texture. Why don't you give a try?

Ingredients

  • Dried Wakame:0.1oz
  • Soft tofu:1/2 package
  • Miso paste:1 and 1/2 oz
For Dashi broth
  • Water:2 1/2 cups
  • Kombu seaweed:1/5 oz
  • Bonito flakes:1/3 oz

Direction

  1. Wipe surface of kombu with clothe.
  2. Put water, kombu and bonito flakes into pot and put on medium heat.
  3. Once it boils, turn to low heat and simmer it for 10 more minutes.
  4. While cooking, remove the scum.
  5. Strain step 4. with kitchen paper and a bowl.
  6. Pour bowlful of water and wakame and wait for few minutes till wakame soften. Once wakame is soft, strain water out.
  7. Cut tofu into dice.
  8. Throw step 5 into the pot and turn on a heat. Once it boils, turn down the heat and mix miso into it.
  9. Put wakame from step 6 and tofu from step 7 into step 3 and turn off heat right before it boils.
